Rijkman Groenink, member of the ABN AMRO Managing Board and Chairman of its Netherlands Division, combining their activities will strengthen Bouwfonds' and ABN AMRO's joint position in two significant areas.

"The proposed transaction will increase our share of the market for residential mortgages to approximately 25%. We also expect to benefit from combining our extensive knowledge and experience of residential mortgage loans, particularly with regard to product development, portfolio management and securitisation. Depending on market developments, our aim is to expand these activities into the rest of Europe in the future. With that in mind, the initiatives being undertaken by ABN AMRO with regard to e-commerce will also offer new opportunities.

As to the development and financing of commercial real estate, the new combination will have a strong position in the Netherlands and will offer a clear alternative in the market. In addition, the new alliance will create an excellent starting point Noun 1. starting point - earliest limiting point
