Senior captain Mike Wood needed just 85 pitches to complete a three-hit shutout as the host Hawks opened their season with an impressive victory.

Wood struck out three and didn't walk a batter in a dominating performance. Mike Ryan provided most of the offense with a two-out, three-run homer to cap a four-run third inning, while Evan Childs was 2 for 4 with an RBI and Mike Ahearn doubled and scored.

Grafton 9, Bartlett 6

Matt Chouinard turned a 6-5 deficit into a 7-6 lead with one swing of the bat, connecting for a two-run homer with one out in the bottom of the fourth to propel host Grafton to its second victory in as many games. Nick LaCroix had two hits and scored two runs, Alex Rutfield was 2 for 3 with a run and two RBIs, and P.J. Tonelli gave up one hit in four innings of relief to earn his first varsity win.

St. Mary's 13, Sutton 4

The visiting Eagles collected 14 hits in the opener for both teams.

Ben Desroches and Adam Filewicz (three RBIs) each had three hits while Aaron Going scored twice and drove in four runs with two-run doubles in the first and fifth innings.
