The two, both amateur boxing champs in their teens, met regularly on the boxing circuit in the 60s. Sinn Fein MLA Maskey said: "I never fought him but we boxed at the same time and the same boxing fraternity. "He was a nice, decent fella, gentle but I wouldn't like to have been on the end of his left hook."
