city tomorrow with a special concert celebrating the Birmingham
industrialist's favourite classical music.
Hark! I hear Musick! will be performed by the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra The City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra (CBSO) is a British orchestra based in Birmingham, England. The orchestra was founded as the City of Birmingham Orchestra in 1920, with Edward Elgar conducting its first concert in September of that year. Baroque Ensemble at St Philip's Cathedral. Along with readings from Boulton's letters, it will feature music that he was known to have enjoyed, including a suite from Handel's Messiah and the aria Angels Ever Bright and Fair from Handel's Theodora that was sung at his funeral. It will also feature music written by composers that Boulton knew, including a symphony and a sonata by astronomer Sir William Herschel. He was the first astronomer to discover the planet Uranus. There will also be a performance of a concerto by Capel Bond, organist and musical director at Coventry Cathedral and founder of Birmingham's first ever music festival in 1768.
