Boulton's life celebrated.


THE 200th anniversary of famed Birmingham industrialist Matthew Boulton's death was marked with a ceremony on Broad Street.

The Lunar Society was a discussion club of prominent industrialists, natural philosophers and intellectuals who met regularly between 1765 and 1813 in Birmingham, England.

The factory owner, who is considered one of the fathers of the industrial revolution, was a leading member of the society which saw prominent men in the Birmingham area meet once a month to discuss matters of science, agriculture and manufacturing.
