William Murdock (c.1720–October 17, 1769) was a Scottish-born American statesman in colonial Maryland. and James Watt. The factory owner, who is considered one of the fathers of the industrial revolution, was a leading member of the society which saw prominent men in the Birmingham area meet once a month to discuss matters of science, agriculture and manufacturing.
