The Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art (BMoCA), a national producer of innovative performing and visual art, once again will host an evening of "art to vie for" at its third annual contemporary art auction on November 11, 2004.

More than 80 original works of contemporary art -- some created specifically for the auction, others donated by internationally and locally acclaimed artists -- will be sold to the highest bidder HIGHEST BIDDER, contracts. He who, at an auction, offers the greatest price for the property sold.

The event serves as BMoCA's biggest fundraiser with proceeds to benefit its year-round programs and ongoing success as the only art center of its kind in Boulder County. BMoCA commissions, produces and presents new work in the visual and performing arts on a local, regional and national level.

"We have developed a reputation as the epicenter of Boulder's contemporary art scene," said BMoCA Artistic Director Brandi Mathis. "The auction helps us continue bringing innovative work to the community."

This year's auction offers a selection thought to be significant in today's contemporary art world.

"It's a juried event, unique because of the diversity of the work. Contributors range from well-known, sought-after artists to emerging up-and-comers," said Mathis.

Media offerings include painting, sculpture, ceramics, jewelry jewelry, personal adornments worn for ornament or utility, to show rank or wealth, or to follow superstitious custom or fashion.

The most universal forms of jewelry are the necklace, bracelet, ring, pin, and earring.
and furniture. Prices range from $100-$6,000.
