Botto attack is a disgrace.I feel i must comment on the atrocious article written by Dan O'Neill on September 4. Mr O'Neill attacked Paul Botto and Stephen Green, calling them loud mouthed Torquemada. How dare he use such scurrilous reference to such an infamous person as the grand inquisitor of Spain, Tomas de Torquemada Noun 1. Tomas de Torquemada - the Spaniard who as Grand Inquisitor was responsible for the death of thousands of Jews and suspected witches during the Spanish Inquisition (1420-1498) Torquemada . Notorious for his cruelty, this perpetrator A term commonly used by law enforcement officers to designate a person who actually commits a crime. of the Spanish Inquisition was largely responsible for the expulsion of Jews and Moors from Spain. During his era he would have been on a par with Hitler or Stalin. Mr O'Neill must make a public apology to Mr Botto and Mr Green for his disgraceful comments. Both men go about their lawful and peaceful protesting against what they, and the organisations they represent, consider to be wrong and evil legislation. I know Mr Botto and the excellent work performed by him and the Society he represents, namely, The Society for the Protection of Unborn Children Society for the Protection of Unborn Children (SPUC) is a pro-life organization in the United Kingdom and several other countries. In New Zealand, SPUC changed its name to "Voice for Life" in August 2004. . Indeed I am a member myself and also the Care Not Killing Alliance. Yes Mr O'Neill we will continue to speak our minds and express our views even if they do, unfortunately, stick in your throat. Your whole article was in bad taste Mr O'Neill and unbecoming of such an experienced and hitherto, respected journalist. James J MacClancy Bideford Road, Llanrumney, Cardiff |
