The implementation of phase one of the $13 million contract commenced in April 2001 and is targeted for completion by April 2002. The MGW installations will cover urban, suburban and remote regions of the country and will operate over a 3.5GHz frequency band.

MGW will meet BTC's growing subscriber demand for reliable communications, connecting the Botswana capital Gaborone as well as numerous remote cities, towns & villages throughout the country. The deal was concluded by Global Telecom, InnoWave's regional partner.

Its modular, flexible architecture assures fast deployment in all topographies. The system's scalability enables low initial investment, and further expenditure in line with network growth and subscriber demand. Using FH-CDMA FH-CDMA Frequency Hop Code Division Multiple Access  technology and advanced multiplexing techniques, the MGW offers optimum spectrum utilization. It supports a wide range of frequency bands - from 800MHz (MegaHertZ) One million cycles per second. It is used to measure the transmission speed of electronic devices, including channels, buses and the computer's internal clock. A one-megahertz clock (1 MHz) means some number of bits (16, 32, 64, etc.  to 3.8GHz - and both analog and digital interfaces.
