Boston.com Teams up with Brigham's Ice Cream to Give Bostonians ``The Scoop''.


BOSTON -- Boston.com and Brigham's Ice Cream Brigham's Ice Cream is an ice cream manufacturer and restaurant chain that operates throughout New England. It is based in Arlington, Massachusetts. [1] The company maintains a strong regional identity going out of its way to use regional terms such as "wicked"  are giving Bostonians their last licks of summer by offering a free cup or cone of ice cream via an online coupon. "The Scoop" promotion begins today and runs through Sunday, September 17, at more than 20 participating Brigham's locations. The coupon can be printed at www.boston.com/thescoop.

Boston.com and Brigham's teamed up for a similar promotion in 2003, but this year's edition promises many new features and lots more fun, including:

--A new flavor each day, including customer favorites like Just Jimmies, Chocolate Chip, Vanilla, and Curse Reversed.

--User interaction: A "Wild Card" feature gave Boston.com readers the opportunity to vote for the final flavor of the promotion. More than 3,300 votes were cast, and Fluffernutter emerged as the winner.

--An ice cream trivia quiz: One lucky entrant will be selected to win a Brigham's ice cream party.

--The cherry on top: A "Get The Scoop" game that was created exclusively for Boston.com by FUSEideas. The game stars "Coney," a loveable love·a·ble

Marketing plans for "The Scoop" include print ads in the Boston Globe and Boston Metro, spots on NESN NESN New England Sports Network  and New England Cable News New England Cable News, known on-air as "NECN", is a regional cable television network serving the New England region of the United States. It is very similar to CNN in structure and style, but focuses more on regional news items and events. , and an online campaign. Brigham's will promote the relationship in-store with signage and magnet giveaways.

"The original Scoop promotion, back in 2003, generated more than eight thousand coupons for a free scoop of Brigham's ice cream," said Darryln Leikauskas, vice president of marketing for Brigham's. "We're looking forward to even greater results this time around."
