Boston-Area Hollywood Tans Commits $10,000 To The Mr. Tux College Scholarship Program.Business Editors/Education Writers BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 29, 2004 Hollywood Tans(R), which recently opened the first Boston-area state-of-the-art tanning tanning, process by which skins and hides are converted into leather. Vegetable tanning, a method requiring more than a month even with modern machinery and tanning liquors, employs tannin; its use is shown in Egyptian tomb paintings dating from 3000 B.C. salons in Natick, North Billerica, Quincy and Saugus, has committed $10,000 towards a college scholarships for local high school seniors. Hollywood Tans will contribute $10,000 towards the Mr. Tux College Scholarship Program, which is in its fifth year. For over 55 years, Mr. Tux has provided high school students in New England New England, name applied to the region comprising six states of the NE United States—Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut. The region is thought to have been so named by Capt. with their prom tuxedo rentals. Last year, the program presented 10 $3,500 scholarships to local high school seniors. This year, 50 scholarships of $1,000 each will be offered to 50 individual high school students. Applications are available at all Mr. Tux/Squire Tux locations. All high school students are eligible. Applications must be received by May 1, 2004, and 50 recipients will be chosen by May 15, 2004. Scholarship funds will be sent directly to each student's college of choice.
