Boston University Club Official Opening Marks Completion of $1 Million Renovation; Opening Celebration on April 28, 2005.


BOSTON -- The Boston University Boston University, at Boston, Mass.; coeducational; founded 1839, chartered 1869, first baccalaureate granted 1871. It is composed of 16 schools and colleges.  Club, the area's premier business club, will commemorate its successful establishment and completion of $1 million renovations with a grand opening and formal ribbon-cutting celebration on Thursday, April 28, 2005 from 5:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.

The Boston University Club - an exclusive private downtown business club - is located at 60 State Street, Boston, in a dedicated space of the State Room. The Club, established through a joint effort of alumni, industry leaders, and the University, was formed by a group of alumni in 2004 to provide an atmosphere to socialize so·cial·ize

Founding Club members, its Board of Governors and leaders in Boston's political, corporate and social circles are slated to attend the gathering. The evening will feature entertainment, contemporary fare provided by Executive Chef Oren Peer, and will include a ribbon cutting to mark the occasion and dedicate the newly refurbished space.

Approximately $1 million was spent renovating the West side of State Room, the venue that houses Boston University Club. The renovation was completed under the direction of Margulies & Associates, one of New England's leading architectural firms whose clients include Fidelity Investments Fidelity Investments is a group of privately held companies in the financial services industry. It is made up by two independent but closely cooperating companies, Fidelity Management and Research Corporation (FMR Co.  and Brown University. Design elements of this metropolitan-style salon are contemporary with warm, neutral tones and accents such as a hand-blown amber crystal chandelier, star-like accent lights and dramatic crown molding. The Club overlooks the Boston skyline and harbor, offering spectacular views from the 33rd floor at 60 State Street.

About Boston University Club

Membership is limited to a maximum of 1,000 members to ensure exclusivity, and members have access to the Club's luncheon service offered Monday - Friday, 11:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. The Club's "Silent Service" is the only lunch service in the city that is designed to minimize interruptions to lunch meetings and allows guests to dine at their own pace. Other member amenities include guest privileges for family, friends and business associates; discounts on room charges for private events at State Room; complimentary car service within the city and to the airport; and full audio-visual and wireless Internet capabilities. Club members also benefit from access to a private suite at the new 7,000-seat Agganis Arena in Boston and access to Club Quarters hotel locations worldwide. When lunch is not being served, the space is used for private events for Members and associates. About State Room

Owned by Longwood Events, State Room is available seven days a week, from 7 a.m. until 2 a.m. for private functions such as corporate meetings, receptions, and weddings.
