) announced today that it has filed changes to its rules to permit the separation of the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer positions. The filing was published by the Securities and Exchange Commission and is expected to be approved this month.

This change arises from a recent review of the Exchange's governance and is intended to create a distinct separation between regulatory functions, which will now report directly to the Chairman, and business and marketplace operations, which will be managed by the CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board. . It is similar to the recently approved separation of roles by the New York Stock Exchange New York Stock Exchange (NYSE)

Mr. Lesser has been with the Exchange for 15 years, including 12 years as Chief Financial Officer. Prior to joining the BSE, he held various financial management roles at the accounting firm of Coopers & Lybrand.
