Fleet Bank and Friends Celebrate Launch of New, Safe, Free Web

Site at Boston's Computer Museum

Children in grades K-6 now have a new, safe and free place to play and learn thanks to Fleet Financial Group, which launched a new educational web site this Monday, October 26, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Computer Museum in Boston. The Web site, FleetKids (www.fleetkids.com), features five games to teach kids about financial management and leadership.

Approximately 75 fourth and fifth grade students from William E. Endicott Elementary School elementary school: see school.  celebrated the FleetKids launch at Boston's Computer Museum by participating in a "live" game show version of FleetKids Web site games. Kids were then led into computer galleries where they logged on to FleetKids and began to earn points for their school as part of the "Learn and Earn With Fleet" challenge. Schools who enroll in the program can earn valuable points each time a student logs on. Top-scoring schools will qualify to redeem accrued points for technology-based teaching tools, including computers and software. In the first four days of the "Learn and Earn With Fleet" challenge, over one hundred schools across the country have already enrolled.

Children were cheered on by the star of the Web site, "Alex," a FleetKid himself. . "Activities on the FleetKids site reflect real-world experiences that all children should be prepared to handle. The site is designed not only to make it easier for children to grasp some complex principles, but also to foster the use of problem-solving in their daily lives."

FleetKids, which went live for the first time on October 15, was created by Fleet Financial Group through a partnership with Headbone Interactive, a leading creator of on-line children's programming. The five site games and activities include The Windfall, Chunka Change, Frontyard Fortunes, MoneyMatic and Kindness Coupons. Through the games, children are challenged to investigate various mathematical, financial and social concepts. These include setting goals, saving and budgeting, balancing "needs" and "wants," learning to work in teams, and developing solutions. The site is free and not linked to any marketing and sales programs. Children sign on and play FleetKids games anonymously, identifying themselves only by indicating the enrolled school they attend.

Alex and the FleetKids Crew are making appearances and demonstrating the FleetKids games at community events, hospitals, parades and schools throughout New England New England, name applied to the region comprising six states of the NE United States—Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut.
