Boston Market expands holiday foods program to include turkey, holiday meal packages.


GOLDEN, Colo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 21, 1996--After last year's strong holiday sales, Boston Market Boston Market (known before 1995 as Boston Chicken), headquartered in Golden, Colorado, is a chain of American fast-food restaurants. Founded in December 1985 in Newton, Massachusetts, the chain grew rapidly in the early and mid-1990s, filed bankruptcy in the late 1990s, and (R) will expand its Boston Hearth(TM) Specialty Foods for the holidays to include rotisserie turkey breast and holiday meal packages in addition to whole and half hams and banquet-sized side dishes.

Boston Market stores, franchised and operated by Boston Chicken, Inc. (NASDAQ-NMS: BOST BOST Boston National Historic Park (US National Park Service)

), will take orders for the branded holiday line starting today, October 21, by phone or at the store. Holiday cinnamon apple pies will also be sold.

In addition, approximately 75 percent of the more than 1,023 Boston Market stores plan to stay open on Thanksgiving Day to make it easier for pick-up and to provide customers with a traditional Thanksgiving meal.

. Prices will vary by location with half hams (5 to 6 pounds) and whole hams (10 to 12 pounds) starting at around $5.49 per pound. Boston Hearth Rotisserie Breast of Turkey, deep marinated in natural juices and slow-roasted in Boston Market's rotisserie ovens, will vary in size from 2 1/2 to 3 pounds, with prices, which will vary by location, starting at around $6.49 per pound.

Three holiday meal packages will be sold, including the Boston Hearth Classic Banquet, which serves 10 to 12; the Boston Hearth Variety Banquet, which serves 14 to 18 and the Boston Hearth Grand Banquet, which serves 20 to 24. Prices will vary by location, starting at around $49.99 for the Boston Hearth Classic Banquet and starting at around $89.99 for the Boston Hearth Grand Banquet. All holiday meal packages include ham or turkey entree, banquet-sized sides and cornbread.

Also on sale will be banquet-sized (32 ounce) containers of Boston Market home style side dishes, including stuffing, mashed potatoes n. pl. 1.
