: BLSI BLSI Boston Life Sciences, Inc. ) announced that it had completed patient enrollment in its Phase III trial for Therafectin(R), the company's oral drug for the treatment of Rheumatoid Arthritis rheumatoid arthritis

The company said that all required patients had been enrolled into the double-blind, placebo-controlled trial and based on the 20 week duration of the study, that results are expected to be available in the second half of 1997.

"We have been extremely pleased with the conduct of the study and the quality of the data that has been generated thus far," stated Marc E. Lanser, M.D., chief scientific officer of BLSI. "We are eagerly looking forward to the completion of the study later this year and to the analysis of the data. Although the outcome cannot be predicted in advance, if the results of the trial are statistically significant in favor of Therafectin, this will be the second solidly successful Phase III trial for Therafectin, which would provide additional important evidence of Therafectin's efficacy and safety for the treatment of Rheumatoid Arthritis," added Dr. Lanser.
