WOBURN, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 22, 1999--

Boston Communications Group, Inc. (NASDAQ: BCGI), the leading provider of prepaid services to wireless carriers throughout North and South America, announced that its core products are Y2K compliant.

Each of the company's four divisions (Prepaid Services, Teleservices, Roaming Services and Systems Division) have passed in-depth testing of production hardware and software used to process calls for all of BCGI's core services. In the course of this effort, the company has performed thousands of tests, including "rollover" testing to validate that BCGI's services will be available to vendors and wireless carriers as the millennium nears. Testing has been completed for the critical Y2K dates (including 9/9/1999, 1/1/2000, 2/29/2000 and 1/1/2001) and no further upgrades are needed to ensure successful handling of mission-critical call processing functions.

BCGI will also have formal contingency plans in place beginning New Years Eve and continuing through the New Year in the event of any unexpected non-BCGI related disruption of service due to Y2K situations, addressing problems such as disruptions at remote sites or major telecommunications infrastructure problems. The plan is intended to provide continued operation of all of BCGI's services, including teleservices, unregistered roamer call processing, prepaid wireless and support.

Another element of BCGI's contingency plan includes a communications policy, enabling notification to partners and customers of any unusual Y2K related events to expedite quicker solutions. The foregoing BCGI Year 2000 compliance statements apply to applications and systems owned and operated by BCGI. BCGI will continue to depend upon suppliers and telecommunication carriers for their Year 2000 compliance.
