Boston's Logan International Airport Security Director to Address Travel Professionals at 2007 Boston Globe Travel Show.

Admiral George Naccara to Deliver Luncheon Keynote and Audience Q&A

BOSTON -- Admiral George N. Naccara, Federal Security Director at Boston's Logan International Airport, will speak to travel industry professionals on Friday, March 23, 2007, at 12:15 p.m. at the 2007 Boston Globe Travel Show. Naccara will focus his remarks on facilitating safe travel in New England: what travelers can expect as they go through local ports and how changes in security have made travel safer. Following his address, a brief Q&A session will be held with the audience, with a formal press conference to follow at 1:15 p.m.

The 2nd Annual Boston Globe Travel Show will be held at the Seaport World Trade Exposition Center in Boston on March 23-25, 2007. The event will showcase travel destinations from around the world while highlighting both cultural exhibits and vacation activities. A diverse set of travel exhibitors and suppliers, representing every segment of the travel industry, will offer detailed information on trips to every region of the world, including New England.

On Friday, March 23, The Boston Globe Travel show will be open exclusively to travel agents and travel professionals. Trade Day at The Boston Globe Travel Show will offer an opportunity for these professionals to meet directly with representatives from tourism boards and suppliers and learn more about their offerings. Attendees also may participate in specially selected educational sessions and enjoy the second annual Industry Reception.

"Changes in travel security have impacted every traveler and those considering taking a trip," said Sam Martin, chief advertising officer, The Boston Globe. "Admiral Naccara will offer travel professionals the opportunity to hear directly about the changes being made in their local ports and how those efforts are making a difference in creating safe travel experiences."

Prior to his appointment as Federal Security Director in May 2002, Naccara served in the U.S. Coast Guard for over 33 years, retiring as a Rear Admiral from a position as the First Coast Guard District Commander in Boston. Much of his Coast Guard career focused on maritime safety, security and environmental protection culminating in an assignment as Director of Field Activities with leadership and oversight of all U.S. maritime inspection, personnel, pollution prevention and response functions in the world.

Admiral Naccara graduated from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy with a Bachelor of Science Degree, holds a Master's Degree from Central Michigan University and was a Harvard University Research Fellow in National Security. He received three Distinguished Service Medals and two Legion of Merit awards, among others.

The Boston Globe Travel Show was created to bring together the New England travel community and the New England traveler. The 2006 show featured more than 150 exhibitors, representing 19 countries, 28 tourism boards and a wide variety of travel destinations and packagers. More than 9,000 people attended the three-day show and booked more than $1 million in travel trips around the world.

The show is open to the public on Saturday, March 24 and Sunday, March 25. Exhibitors will offer special travel packages and pricing to travelers who book trips at the show.
