Bose Corporation breaks ground for "Campus West".


FRAMINGHAM, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 16, 1995--Local and state officials joined Bose Corporation The Bose Corporation is a privately-held American company based in Framingham, Massachusetts that specializes in audio equipment[2][3] and holds the philosophy of supporting its technological development through research (thus the company motto).  executives here today at a ground-breaking ceremony to mark the construction start of "Campus West," a six-story, 280,000 square foot office and research facility.

This building is the first in a multi-phase building project Bose is planning on its 37 acre site. Atop The Mountain in the Framingham Technology Park, the Bose development will eventually include a new corporate headquarters, reception center and concert hall in a beautifully landscaped campus setting. Bose has been located on the Mountain since 1972.

To be completed in December 1996, Campus West will provide office space for about 800 people. Designed to be an enjoyable and convenient place to work, it will include a concierge office, fitness center, travel center, health service office and an automated banking services machine.

The new Campus West building will include a 315-seat auditorium, for business meetings and musical presentations, that has been designed for superior acoustics acoustics (ək`stĭks) [Gr.,=the facts about hearing], the science of sound, including its production, propagation, and effects.  using the company's award-winning Auditioner(R) audio demonstrator dem·on·stra·tor

About 100 guests attended the Bose ceremony today, including government officials, media representatives, and leading business people from the area. Company president Sherwin Greenblatt thanked local and state officials for their support of the company's expansion.

"This ground-breaking is the first step in realizing our vision for the master plan for development of the Mountain in Framingham," Greenblatt said.

Gloria Cordes Larson Gloria Cordes Larson is a former politician and lawyer based in Boston. As of July 1, 2007, she was the first woman to be selected President of Bentley College in Waltham, Massachusetts. Larson, a Southerner, received her bachelor's degree from Vassar College and her J.D. , Massachusetts Secretary of Economic Affairs, congratulated President Greenblatt and company Chairman Dr. Amar G. Bose on their success and praised the company's efforts in working with the state and town of Framingham on this new development.

In addition to the $30 million building, Bose will pay for more than $750,000 worth of traffic improvements to nearby intersections.

The Campus West building exterior will have an elegant, high-tech look. With simple lines and a curved wall of glass, the building will be an attractive addition to the Technology Park landscape.

The new Campus West building will be connected to the existing Campus East building by an underground tunnel. Campus East will be devoted to research and development upon the completion of Campus West.

As the Bose development proceeds on the site, the current parking areas will be reduced. The company has purchased a site in the Framingham Technology Park at One New York Avenue The following roads are named New York Avenue:
  • New York Avenue (Washington, D.C.)
  • New York Ave-Florida Ave-Gallaudet U (Washington Metro)
  • New York Avenue (Brooklyn)
  • New York Avenue in Queens, now Guy R.
