Boscobel Beach Hotel in Jamaica Closes For J$50 Million Renovation; Hotel to Reopen on September 16, 2000.

Jamaica Hotels Limited, operator of the Boscobel Beach Hotel, Jamaica's flagship property for family vacationing, announced today that it will close the hotel temporarily, effective July 23, to implement a J$50 million renovation on property. Guests who currently hold reservations during the renovation period will be accommodated at the Wyndham Montego Bay Montego Bay (mŏntē`gō), city (1991 pop. 82,002), NW Jamaica. One of the most popular resorts in the Caribbean with highly developed tourism facilities, Montego Bay is also a port and commercial center.  or Jamaica Grande hotel in Ocho Rios.

The decision to close the hotel follows the July 4th termination of SuperClubs' management agreement and the assessment by the hotel's new management team regarding the state of the hotel and its facilities.

"Unfortunately, the hotel has not been maintained vigorously enough to compete in today's highly discerning tourism market. Guestrooms and public areas are worn and badly need renovation so that we can continue to confidently market the hotel to our international clientele," said General Manager Jeff
