Borough president talks the wank.


Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer will host a first of its kind conference on the transportation challenges facing Manhattan and deliver a major speech on October 12, 2006 at 8:45 a.m. at Columbia University's Alfred Lerner Hall Alfred Lerner Hall is the student center or students' union of Columbia University. It is named for Al Lerner, who financed its construction. Situated on the university's historic Morningside Heights campus in New York City, the building, designed by deconstructivist architect  at West 115 Street and Broadway.

The conference, "Manhattan on the Move: A Transportation Agenda for a Growing City," will bring together more than 300 policy experts, business, civic and community leaders, and local residents to discuss possible solutions for Manhattan's pressing transit problems.

Enrique Penalosa, the former Mayor of Bogota, Columbia will serve as the keynote speaker. Penalosa is credited with leading Bogota through some of the most progressive transportation reforms in the world.

Other speakers will include Iris Weinshall, Commissioner of NYC Department of Transportation, and Kathryn Wylde, president and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  of the Partnership for NYC.

Discussion groups will be led by Gene Russianoff, staff attorney of the NYPIRG NYPIRG New York Public Interest Research Group  Straphangers Campaign; Bruce Schaller, principal of Schaller Consulting; Ethel Sheffer, president of the American Planning Association The American Planning Association (APA) is a professional organization representing the field of city and regional planning in the United States.
