Borough's brightest stars urged to enter tourism awards scheme.


TOURIST attractions and hotels in Halton Halton is the name of several places

 are being urged to enter an awards scheme that recognises those who go the extra mile for their visitors.

The Runcorn Runcorn, city (1991 pop. 63,995), Halton, W England, on the Mersey River. It is located on the Manchester Ship Canal and is the terminus of the Bridgewater Canal, which is connected to the Mersey by a series of locks. The main industry is the production of chemicals.  and Widnes Widnes (wĭd`nĭs), city (1991 pop. 55,973), Halton, NW England, on the Mersey River. It is an important alkali-processing center. Other products are paints, soap, pharmaceuticals, and steel goods.  Tourism Business Network and Halton Chamber of Commerce and Enterprise have launched the 2010 Tourism Awards as part of the annual Halton Business and Tourism Awards.

Nomination forms are available at attractions, hotels and libraries throughout Halton - or can be filled in online at www.halton.gov.uk/tourism.

The five categories are Outstanding Customer Service, Family-friendly Assistant, Team of the Year, Outstanding Young Person (age16-24) and Unseen Hero/Volunteer.

The closing date for nominations is January 8 and the awards will be presented in February.

Jules Burgess-Wilson, chair of the Tourism Business Network, said: "The standard of last year's winners was exceptional and we are sure there are many more candidates worthy of recognition this year."
