Boro roll to victory in opener; Roller Hockey.


THE opening day of the season saw Middlesbrough Roller Hockey roller hockey

Hockey played on a hard surface in which two opposing teams of roller skaters, using curved sticks, try to drive a ball into the opponents' goal.
 Club take on a well organised Herne Bay Herne Bay (hûrn), town (1991 pop. 26,523), Kent, SE England. It is a resort with 7 mi (11 km) of coast and 5 mi (8 km) of promenades. The town developed after a railroad was built in 1833.  team home at the Rainbow Centre.

The game marked Middlesbrough debuts for England U-17s player Will Smith and England U-20s player Sam Kay.

The game opened with Middlesbrough demanding ball possession trying to break down the tight and well organised Herne Bay defence. This pressure led to two goals from Owen Stewart.

Half time Middlesbrough 2 - 0 Herne Bay Not long after the interval, Herne Bay were awarded direct free hit, which led to their first goal.

Middlesbrough however kept control of the game at this point adding to the score twice to gain a comfortable three goal lead.

Soon after the fourth goal Middlesbrough conceded a second to make the score 4-2, but after tactical alterations, Boro came out and scored three quick goals, two by debutant De`bu`tant´

Herne Bay turned up the pressure and scored three quick goals, but Middlesbrough changed tactics again and finished the game retaining possession of the ball to secure the win.

Final score: Middlesbrough 7, Herne Bay 5
