Soon after the fourth goal Middlesbrough conceded a second to make the score 4-2, but after tactical alterations, Boro came out and scored three quick goals, two by debutant De`bu`tant´ n. 1. Herne Bay turned up the pressure and scored three quick goals, but Middlesbrough changed tactics again and finished the game retaining possession of the ball to secure the win.
