Borland and THQ Join the MGIF as Sponsors.

 as new Sponsor companies.

Both companies will actively contribute to the development of the MGIF specifications and associated Forum activities.

See integrated software package.  applications, and THQ, a leading interactive entertainment software developer, will further strengthen the MGIF's technical presence in those market segments.

He was Vice Chairman of the UK agency during the late 1980s and then worked as Regional Director in Asia/Pacific where he was awarded Ad Ages's  of Nokia, chairman of the MGIF. "Both Borland and THQ add strength to the ongoing work of our active Sponsor companies."

The two new Sponsors join the MGIF as the initiative moves toward releasing its version 1.0 specifications later this year. The Forum is participating at the Mobile Entertainment Conference in London on the 9th and 10th April. Board members and sponsor companies will be at the show.

The MGIF was formed by Ericsson, Motorola, Nokia and Siemens in July 2001 to address the issues of portability and interoperability in the mobile games space. The MGIF specifications will allow game developers to produce and deploy mobile games that can be distributed across multiple game servers and wireless networks, and played over different mobile devices. MGIF aims to solve device-related issues and, where necessary, provide input to appropriate standards bodies Following are some of the standards bodies defined in this database. For Windows users of CDE, look up Lessons/Review/Associations. For Web users of CDE's online HTML version, review the Lessons list at the bottom of the definition.

The MGIF will only define API (Application Programming Interface) A language and message format used by an application program to communicate with the operating system or some other control program such as a database management system (DBMS) or communications protocol.  specifications and will not produce a mobile game platform.

The MGIF is a program of the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, New York, www.ieee.org) A membership organization that includes engineers, scientists and students in electronics and allied fields.  Industry Standards and Technology Organization (IEEE-ISTO), which supports the management and administration of the Forum's day-to-day activities.
