Continuous Build and Test Automation Product Generates Real-Time Visibility and Metrics Across the Entire Delivery Lifecycle

CUPERTINO, Calif. -- Borland Software Corporation (NASDAQ:BORL) (www.borland.com), the global leader in Open application lifecycle management (ALM), today unveiled Borland([R]) Gauntlet([TM]), an innovative continuous build and test automation product that supports effective lifecycle quality management (LQM) by enabling organizations to continuously track, measure and improve software quality throughout the application lifecycle.

Gauntlet advances software delivery by instituting quality controls within existing version control processes. These controls, or "gauntlets," enable development teams to identify and isolate problems earlier in the application lifecycle - when their impact can be minimized - by automatically inspecting development artifacts every time a change is made or at desired intervals.

Gauntlet has been developed from the ground up to adhere to Borland's Open ALM product strategy, designed to support the integration of a wide range of development and testing tools while still providing a unified view of all quality metrics. It also integrates with leading configuration management products - including Borland StarTeam([R]), CVS and Subversion - automatically running "gauntlets" against code as developers check changes into the system.

Additionally, Gauntlet makes it easy for customers to add or create their own custom "gauntlets," all of which feed metrics into centralized Gauntlet dashboards. Gauntlet's dashboards include real-time snapshots and time series analysis of metrics like build performance, unit or functional test results, code coverage and project activity. By making it possible for customers to view and measure application health earlier in the lifecycle, Gauntlet helps development teams gain greater confidence and accountability in their estimates, technical predictions and risk assessments, while at the same time allowing management to identify at-risk projects early enough in the lifecycle for changes in scope or resources to make a difference.
