Borland Announces Delphi/400 Client/Server Suite for the IBM AS/400; Company's Golden Gate Strategy Brings Rapid Application Development to New Market; Borland Joins IBM's "Partners in Development" Business Program.


SCOTTS VALLEY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 6, 1997--Borland International Inc. today announced a new client/server development tool for the IBM (International Business Machines Corporation, Armonk, NY, www.ibm.com) The world's largest computer company. IBM's product lines include the S/390 mainframes (zSeries), AS/400 midrange business systems (iSeries), RS/6000 workstations and servers (pSeries), Intel-based servers (xSeries)  AS/400 hardware platform -- Delphi/400 Client/Server Suite. Based on the company's award-winning rapid application development (RAD) tool for Windows, this new version of Delphi brings visual component-based development to AS/400 programmers and sophisticated, high-performance GUI (Graphical User Interface) A graphics-based user interface that incorporates movable windows, icons and a mouse. Through this program, the two companies will work together to provide Delphi-based software solutions to the AS/400 community.
