Borealis Lands 'Borstar' Contract; Acquires Stake In ChemConnect.Raw material supplier Borealis A/S, Lyngby, Denmark, and Tecnimont have been awarded a contract for a new "Borstar" polyethylene polyethylene (pŏl'ēĕth`əlēn), widely used plastic. It is a polymer of ethylene, CH2=CH2, having the formula (-CH2-CH2-)n plant by the Shanghai Petrochemical Shanghai Petrochemical (SEHK: 338),(SSE: B>600688) (Traditional Chinese:上海石化, Simplified Chinese:上海石化), full name Sinopec Shanghai Petrochemical Company Limited Company, Jinshanwei, China, which is a unit of China Petrochemical petrochemical, any one of a large group of chemicals derived from a component of petroleum or natural gas. The cracking processes for manufacturing gasoline produce vast quantities of gaseous hydrocarbons. . Based in Jinshanwei, the new 250,000 ton facility is scheduled for start-up in early 2002 and reportedly will be the largest polyolefin production unit in China. In other Borealis news, the company has acquired a minority stake in ChemConnect, San Francisco San Francisco (săn frănsĭs`kō), city (1990 pop. 723,959), coextensive with San Francisco co., W Calif., on the tip of a peninsula between the Pacific Ocean and San Francisco Bay, which are connected by the strait known as the Golden , CA, which is an Internet chemicals and plastics exchange.
