Borders(R) will sell the fifth book in J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter series, "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix," at 40% off of the publisher's listed price when the book is released on June 21. The list price has yet to be determined. On Friday, June 20, Borders stores across the country will stay open late to celebrate the latest Harry Potter release with in-store events, and will begin selling the book just after midnight. Borders is currently accepting pre-orders for the book at its more than 400 bookstores nationwide and online at www.borders.com and www.bordersstores.com.

In July 2000, the release of the fourth book in the series, "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire," broke all Borders and Waldenbooks stores first day sales records, selling more than 300,000 copies. Over 100,000 fans attended store events ranging from midnight parties to wizard's breakfasts.

"I expect that "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" will surpass all previous sales and event attendance records," said Michael Spinozzi, chief marketing officer and executive vice-president for Borders Group. "The anticipation has been building for over two years. Our customers are wild about Harry! We are busy planning magical events and incentives for all Potter fans, young and old."
