Borders book store begins new chapter at Queens complex.


In a series of firsts, Borders has committed to opening its very first store in Queens at what will be New York New York, state, United States
New York, Middle Atlantic state of the United States. It is bordered by Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and the Atlantic Ocean (E), New Jersey and Pennsylvania (S), Lakes Erie and Ontario and the Canadian province of
 City's first ever lifestyle retail center.

Borders, which plans a September 2006 opening, will occupy 22,500 of the center's 400,000 square feet.

The book, music and movie retailer will be a dynamic addition to the mix of major tenants at The Shops at Atlas Park in Glendale. Regal Cinemas will serve as the entertainment anchor in conjunction with a variety of restaurants, both local and national, that encompass casual and fine dining concepts, while a combination of local specialty food stores will be housed together to meet consumers' everyday grocery shopping needs. "Borders will have prime visibility, situated at the corner of 80th Street and Cooper Avenue, a high-traffic location within a densely populated, yet under-stored urban retail environment," explains Damon Hemmerdinger, the project's development director.

"By bringing together its appealing mix of merchandise together in one highly accessible location with immediately adjacent covered parking, Borders provides a real plus to our project and an important point of difference for our customers." Over half of the retail and restaurant space at The Shops at Atlas Park has already been rented or committed in anticipation of the center's April 2006 Grand Opening. In addition to Regal Cinemas, national retailers include Chico's, White House Black Market, Gymboree, Coldwater Creek Coldwater Creek is a clothing retailer which is based in Sandpoint, Idaho, United States. The company was founded in 1984 by Dennis Pence. The company had 239 stores in operation at the end of the 2006 fiscal year.[1] Notes
