Borders and Waldenbooks Stores to Offer Sixth Harry Potter Book at 40% off Publisher Price for All Pre-Orders.

Borders(R) Books & Music stores and Waldenbooks stores nationwide will sell the sixth book in J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter series, "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince," at 40% off of the publisher's listed price of $29.99 to customers who reserve their copies before the July 16, 2005, on-sale date.

On July 15, 2005, Borders stores across the country will celebrate the latest Harry Potter release with in-store events, and will remain open until after midnight so customers can purchase the book at 12:01 a.m. Waldenbooks stores will also host special events.

"The release of the last Potter book, "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix," broke sales records for Borders and Waldenbooks stores selling more than one million copies in the first six days, and I expect that the sales for "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" will be record-setting as well," said Michael Spinozzi, executive vice-president and chief marketing officer for Borders Group. "The 40% discount off the publisher's listed price is a great way to say happy holidays to the millions of Potter fans who pre-order this title in our stores."
