"With today's announcement, U.S. government agencies can effectively strengthen the security of their networks with the most secure firewall available - quickly, easily and quietly," said John Alsop John Alsop (1724 – November 22, 1794) was an American merchant and politician from New York City during the American Revolution. He was a delegate for New York to the Continental Congress from 1774 to 1776. , President and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  of BorderWare Technologies Inc.

The GSA is the chief procurement arm of the U.S. federal government and the various GSA schedules provide government agencies with access to millions of state-of-the-art, high quality commercial products and services at volume discount pricing on a direct delivery basis. The General Services Administration Multiple Award Schedules are the purchasing method of choice for Federal Agencies. BorderWare's Firewall Server, the Document Gateway, Office Gateway and Mail Gateway have been awarded GSA schedules and are now easily available to government departments.

"The United States United States, officially United States of America, republic (2005 est. pop. 295,734,000), 3,539,227 sq mi (9,166,598 sq km), North America. The United States is the world's third largest country in population and the fourth largest country in area.  is a country whose national security depends on the protection of its IT networks," Alsop said. "U.S. Government networks have recently been targeted by international cyber bandits and these networks remain vulnerable to malicious attack by international terrorists. Government bodies such as the military and other high security agencies recognize the importance of having the highest certified security solution available, and BorderWare meets this need with the only firewall worldwide to achieve EAL EAL English as an Additional Language

4 certification."

In addition, there is an ever-increasing imperative by civilian authorities to implement the same high standards in security to protect Privacy Act materials residing on government networks and databases.

U.S. federal government agencies looking to buy security solutions typically have few choices for acquiring what they need. One option is to create a specification as to what hardware and software they want to buy and turn that specification over for public tender. This process can be long and arduous, and many in the security industry would argue that placing the security specification of one's network to public tender is in itself a security breach. A more convenient and secure solution to purchase security software is through a GSA Schedule.

The BorderWare Firewall Server was awarded an EAL4 Common Criteria (Common Criteria for Information Technology Security) An international standard process for defining security objectives and for evaluating compliance with those objectives. The Common Criteria have largely replaced the Trusted Computer Security Evaluation Criteria (TCSEC), the Canadian  certification earlier this year, making it the first firewall product - worldwide - to achieve this internationally acclaimed high-level recognition. BorderWare Firewall Server 6.1.2, the latest version of BorderWare's Firewall Server, features a new proxy server Also called a "proxy," it is a computer system or router that breaks the connection between sender and receiver. Functioning as a relay between client and server, proxy servers are used to help prevent an attacker from invading the private network.  that provides:
-- advanced caching services

-- outbound authentication

-- enhanced smart URL filtering services
