Border decision. (Peace Watch).


The Security Council on 29 May reiterated the importance of close consultations among the United Nations Mission in Ethiopia and Eritrea The United Nations Mission in Ethiopia and Eritrea (UNMEE) was originally formed in 2000 to monitor a ceasefire in the border war that began in 1998 between Ethiopia and Eritrea.  (UNMEE UNMEE United Nations Mission in Ethiopia and Eritrea ), the Boundary Commission and concerned parties on the implementation of the Commission's recent decision on the delimitation of the border between the two formerly warring countries. The 125-page decision was delivered on 13 April to representatives of Eritrea and Ethiopia. According to according to

The Ethiopian Government reopened in early May its borders with Eritrea, which had been closed since 27 April. Legewaila studied politics, history and international relations at the University of Alberta in Canada and taught there for a time. , who had been in Addis Ababa since the imposition of the measures by Ethiopia, crossed the border on 6 May and headed to Asmara, the capital of Eritrea, according to UNMEE. On 22 April, representatives of both nations held talks in a "relaxed and positive atmosphere" in their first meeting since the delimitation of the border.
