HEALTH experts have launched a new plan to tackle alcohol abuse and its effects on people in North Tyneside North Tyneside is a metropolitan borough of Tyne and Wear in the North East of England. Its seat is at the Town Hall, Wallsend.

Created in 1974, the borough lies within the historic county boundaries of Northumberland.

The multi-agency strategy, the first of its kind in the area, aims to reduce poor health, crime and anti-social behaviour, and promote sensible drinking.

It has been launched by North Tyneside Strategic Partnership, which is made up of representatives from North Tyneside Primary Care Trust (PCT (Private Communications Technology) A protocol from Microsoft that provides secure transactions over the Web. North Tyneside PCT's director of public health, Professor Vivien Hollyoak said: "The strategic partnership is implementing actions and initiatives to reduce and prevent the impact of alcohol."
