Boots offer anti-cancer jab at pounds 405; HEALTH.


A HIGH-street store is launching a vaccination service to protect women against cervical cancer.

Boots pharmacies are offering the service to women aged between 18 and 54 in 134 stores across England and Wales England and Wales are both constituent countries of the United Kingdom, that together share a single legal system: English law. Legislatively, England and Wales are treated as a single unit (see State (law)) for the conflict of laws. .

A series of three injections, costing a total of pounds 405, will provide vaccination against the two forms of the human papillomavirus (HPV HPV human papillomavirus.

Dr Anne Szarewski,a Cancer Research UK consultant said: "Older women can benefit from the jab but it is still important to continue with smear tests."

The jab protects against HPV strains 16 and 18 that cause 70 per cent of all cervical cancers which kill 1,000 UK women a year .
