Boole & Babbage enhances MV MANAGER for IMS with New Analysis and Reporting Features, Support for IMS ESA 5.1.

SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 3, 1995--Boole & Babbage Inc. (NASDAQ:BOOL) Friday announced MV MANAGER for IMS 3.1.0 which includes flexible, powerful new analysis and reporting features that fully support IMS/ESA 5.1 from IBM.

IMS 5.1 introduces N-Way data sharing and takes advantage of new CMOS parallel processors allowing up to 32 IMS systems to share IMS databases. This new technology presents additional IMS monitoring challenges. New features for N-way data sharing in MV MANAGER for IMS 3.1.0 provide the tools necessary to get maximum throughput.

Release 3.1 contains significantly improved tracing facilities providing more detail in its realtime and historical application trace options. This allows users to identify problems even after they have occurred and tune the system to eliminate recurring problems that consume valuable resources.

Through the integrated MainView product family, customers can quickly transfer between the MV MANAGER products for IMS, CICS and DB2 using cursor-sensitive hyperlinks. Moving directly between the products in this way means users save time and need not memorize commands and navigation procedures.

MV MANAGER for IMS is a component of the MainView for IMS product family which fully integrates performance management and automated operations to provide comprehensive management and control of complex IMS environments. The MV MANAGER for IMS product components provide performance analysis and tuning, detailed applications analysis and detailed transaction accounting data.

Individual product components are priced from $9,800. Current customers on active maintenance will receive the upgrade to the new release free of charge.
