By linking technologies from both companies, organizations will gain unprecedented levels of availability with a solution that scales to every enterprise.

"Increased availability management of applications spanning diverse technologies continues to be the key objective for optimizing the large-scale enterprise," said Jack Brown, senior director, distributed systems Distributed systems (computers)

"By combining enterprise-level products like COMMAND/POST and TME 10, customers have a solution that seamlessly integrates TME 10 with all the technologies and platforms that it doesn't monitor. They can achieve their objective of managing availability of every element in the enterprise from a central point of control."

Boole & Babbage has already completed substantial development work that has given customers multiple levels of integration between COMMAND/POST and the market leading network managers, including TME NetView, TME 10 NetView for MVS (Multiple Virtual Storage) Introduced in 1974, the primary operating system used with IBM mainframes (the others are VM and DOS/VSE). "Boole & Babbage has also consistently demonstrated a high-standards approach to systems management product integration. The company is a valued addition to the 10/Plus Association."

Several Boole & Babbage customers have also purchased TME 10 management products and are finding synergy between COMMAND/POST and TME 10. "Sprint has successfully employed COMMAND/POST as its primary integration facility for managing availability of every application and device on its nationwide network," said Dave Karthauser, technology analyst at Sprint. "We plan to implement TME 10 to address additional management functions, including software distribution and client/server event management. In an effort to streamline and consolidate the management process at Sprint, we welcome the fact that our two strategic systems management vendors are furthering their integration efforts."

In addition, the renewed partnership between Boole & Babbage and Tivoli will foster integration between TME 10 and Boole & Babbage MainView systems management solution for mainframe and Parallel Sysplex environments. The MainView product line, which is based on the same architecture used by IBM (International Business Machines Corporation, Armonk, NY, www.ibm.com) The world's largest computer company.
