) today announced the opening of Joe Muggs Newsstand at The Summit Shopping Center shopping center, a concentration of retail, service, and entertainment enterprises designed to serve the surrounding region. The modern shopping center differs from its antecedents—bazaars and marketplaces—in that the shops are usually amalgamated into  in Birmingham, Alabama Birmingham (pronounced [ˈbɝmɪŋˌhæm]) is the largest city in the U.S. state of Alabama and is the county seat of Jefferson County. . The store is the Company's third in the Birmingham market and joins two stores in the Atlanta area to bring the total number of Joe Muggs Newsstands to five. The Company has also signed leases for two additional Atlanta locations to open before the end of the year.

The Summit store represents the new prototype for the Newsstand concept, which has been in development over the past year. The contemporary design includes a fireplace, ample comfortable seating, and a refreshing outdoor patio. The store features a full selection of specialty coffee drinks, fine pastries, and over 3,500 magazine titles. Hours of operation will be 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 6:00 a.m. to midnight Friday and Saturday, and 6:30 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. on Sundays.
