To commemorate the 50th anniversary of Lester's first Derby win, he has teamed up with Sean Magee to produce this glossy, 245-page tribute to his Epsom achievements. It's all there in black and white - and colour. All of Lester's rides in the big race are detailed, from the indignance of Zucchero's mulish performance on his first ride in the race as a 15-year-old apprentice in 1951, to his first winner, Never Say Die, in 1954 and all the others that followed. Magee gives the background to each horse and Lester tells us what happened during the race - and he's written more than he probably said about each of his wins at the time. If you're a Lester fanatic, or even if you just have a passing interest, this is for you. It's written well and is far from dull like some of these books can be. Most importantly, it's tremendously illustrated with dozens upon dozens of quality images, and the cover price is on a par with similar publications.
