Tara Cain Planet Animal by Barbara Taylor (Carlton, pounds 17.99).

THIS lovely hardback book aims to make education more fun with its dynamic pages featuring flaps, pull-outs and little pockets of information.

It is chock full of information about some of the planets animals which are now at risk - from polar bears and elephants to the albatross and the gharials (looks like a rather odd alligator alligator, large aquatic reptile of the genus Alligator, in the same order as the crocodile. There are two species—a large type found in the S United States and a small type found in E China. Alligators differ from crocodiles in several ways. ).

An excellent way to get children interested in the world around them and the importance of saving our wildlife.

Gorgeous photographs, fascinating facts (orang-utan comes from Malay words meaning "man of the forest") and loads of figures.

There is also a fun quiz at the back and a tiger poster.

A must for animal lovers. ***** Tara Cain
