YOUNG people and their families will soon get the chance to learn a foreign language.

Council's Clayport Library is starting courses in Spanish and Chinese on Saturdays from April 26.

The free courses last 10 weeks with Chinese for Families starting at 9.30am and Spanish at 11am.

Family groups must include one child aged between six and 16 and places should be reserved by calling Clayport Library on (0191) 386 4003.

For over-16s, there is a chance to learn how to make beaded jewellery starting on Saturday, April 26, between 11am and 1pm while on Sunday, April 27, desktop publishing desktop publishing, system for producing printed materials that consists of a personal computer or computer workstation, a high-resolution printer (usually a laser printer), and a computer program that allows the user to select from a variety of type fonts and sizes, is on offer.
