"The Bread Baker's Apprentice: Mastering the Art of Extraordinary Bread" by Peter Reinhart was named cookbook of the year at a recent conference of the International Association of Culinary Professionals The International Association of Culinary Professionals (IACP) is a United States based non-profit professional association whose members work in culinary education, communication, or the preparation of food and beverage.  in San Diego San Diego (săn dēā`gō), city (1990 pop. 1,110,549), seat of San Diego co., S Calif., on San Diego Bay; inc. 1850. San Diego includes the unincorporated communities of La Jolla and Spring Valley. Coronado is across the bay. . It was the winner in the competition's Bread, Other Baking and Sweets Category.

Reinhart is co-founder of Brother Juniper's Bakery, author of "Brother Juniper's Bread" and "Crust & Crumb," and an instructor at Johnson & Wales Wales, Welsh Cymru, western peninsula and political division (principality) of Great Britain (1991 pop. 2,798,200), 8,016 sq mi (20,761 sq km), west of England; politically united with England since 1536. The capital is Cardiff.  University. He has been a leader in America's artisanal bread movement for more than 15 years.

Health and Special Diet: "Healthy 1-2-3: The Ultimate Three-Ingredient Cookbook" by Rozanne Gold.

International: "Savoring India: Recipes and Reflections on Indian Cooking" by Julie Sahni.

Literary Food Writing: "On Rue Tatin" by Susan Hermann Loomis;

Single Subject: "How to Grill" by Steven Raichlen.

Wine, Beer or Spirits: "Bordeaux: People, Power, and Politics" by Stephen Brook.

The Design Award: "Van Gogh's Table at the Aberge Ravoux," designer Birgitta Ralston, photographer Frederic Lebain.

The Jane Grigson Award The Jane Grigson Award is an award issued by the International Association of Culinary Professionals (IACP). It honours distinguished scholarship and depth of research in cookbooks and is named in honour of the British cookery writer Jane Grigson. , recognizing distinguished scholarship, was presented to two books: "Bordeaux: People, Power, and Politics" by Stephen Brook and "The Glorious Foods of Greece" by Diane Kochilas.
