Book in for a passport.

HOLMFIRTH Library has become the latest facility in the area to start issuing Kirklees Passports.

It brings the number of libraries in the district that issue the documents up to eight.

Kirklees Passports are also available at Meltham, Shepley, Birstall, Birkby and Fartown, Lindley, Deighton and Skelmanthorpe Library and Information Centres.

In addition, the passports are issued at the Kirklees Information Points in Civic Centre 1 in Huddersfield, at Dewsbury Town Hall, and at Peel Street, in Marsden.

Applicants will need to provide their own photograph when they apply for a Kirklees Passport at any of the libraries.

Any resident of Kirklees who is receiving certain benefits, such as council tax or housing benefit, or certain types of tax credit, qualifies for the special card.

Full-time students over 16, people with a disability and those who are registered as unemployed are also eligible for the new passports.

"They contribute so much to young and old alike, and are an incentive to get out and enjoy some fresh air."

Tim sent an email to the three Lindley ward councillors and was pleased to get an immediate response from Clr Tony Brice and Clr Christine Stanfield.

Conservative Clr Brice said he had already put a lot of work into clearing up the area.

He said: "I'm a bit annoyed because a lot has been done to address the problem.

"The litter is obviously an ongoing problem.

"We took action to solve that by getting rubbish bins installed with money from the area committee.

"Unfortunately, with the best will in the world you can't be there all the time.

"Litter pickers last week picked it all up on the Monday, and it was back on the Tuesday."

Clr Brice said a boundary of large logs has been put in place to prevents cars and lorries churning up the land.
