Boogie Brothers Productions Brings Game Show to Detroit.

Looking for something to spice up the next corporate party or holiday function? Your own private game show could be just the ticket.

Boogie Brothers Productions LLC of Royal Oak, MI, has expanded their disc jockey business to include customized game shows and Vegas style gaming for rental at functions.

Owner Dan Nichols explained, "I had seen an ad in an industry magazine a few years ago for a company that manufactures the game show units. I hadn't heard of anybody doing this type of thing in the Detroit area, so we decided to purchase the equipment and offer the service. We're not just weddings anymore!"

Nichols, who has been a disc jockey for the past 10 years, recently teamed up with his brother, Kevin, to form Boogie Brothers Productions.

The game show setup, which includes up to 5 podiums, buzzers, microphones and a Boogie Brother for a host, costs about $1000 for up to 2.5 hours of fun.

Clients may choose any type of game show they wish. Favorite picks include games similar to the television favorites including Jeopardy, Family Feud, Name That Tune, or the Newlywed Game. Nichols is quick to point out that he doesn't own the rights to these TV names but the games are very similar. Questions can be general trivia questions provided by Nichols, or may be tailored for the specific crowd. Many clients elect our "2fer" package which includes the game show plus music for dancing.

Nichols, who has a large list of corporate clients, believes the show is a great alternative to humdrum karaoke, and can be used at trade shows, company parties, sales meetings, university functions, training seminars, bar and bat mitzvahs or any type of private party.

The company has relied primarily on word-of-mouth advertising as well as e-mailed announcements to corporate clients to promote the new concept.

Judy Perrin of Meritor WABCO says her company would consider doing a game show. "We have used Dan for our holiday parties for the past several years and he does an excellent job. He's a lot of fun to work with and tries to get everybody involved. My boss always requests Dan."

Bill Steen, owner of Great Water Yachts, likes working with Nichols because of his professionalism. "Dan is by far the most professional disc jockey I've ever worked with. He takes the clients' expectations very seriously and that's why we use him."
