Bones aren't for blobs.

What would your body look like if it had no bones? It would be a blob, oozing along the ground.

206 bones? How much your bones grow will determine how tall you will be. Shaquille O'Neal, for example, has very long bones.

Your bones are like a suit of armor

Bones help you do a lot of things. They help you sit, walk, and jump. They also make you strong so that you can lift heavy things and run fast.

Did you know that your body has under your skin. They protect your organs, including your heart, lungs, and stomach.

On the outside, a bone feels hard as a rock. Inside, the marrow isn't hard at all.

The marrow makes cells, which have important jobs. Some help you get better when you're sick, while other cells stop your cuts from bleeding. Still other cells act like little delivery trucks carrying oxygen throughout your body.

You can help your bones stay healthy by exercising and eating healthful foods. Drink plenty of milk and orange juice and eat iron-rich vegetables, such as broccoli.

Aren't you glad you're not a blob? Next time you win a race, thank your bones!
