The American Society of Clinical Oncology American Society of Clinical Oncology, or ASCO, is an organization that represents all clinical oncologists. Every year, ASCO holds a large symposium where physicians and researchers meet to convey and discuss research and ideas.  study looked at five trials of women with advanced breast cancer. Four showed that transplants with bone marrow or with the specialized cells found in bone marrow did not work any better than standard chemotherapy. The organization estimates that more than 12,000 breast cancer patients in the United States have had bone marrow transplants since the mid 1980s.
