Bond car's licence to thrill students; SCHOOL: Visit stirs pupils into designing Aston Martins of the future.

STUDENTS were shaken and stirred when the car driven by James Bond zoomed up at their school.

The Aston Martin Aston Martin Lagonda Limited is a British manufacturer of luxury performance cars, whose headquarters are at Gaydon, Warwickshire, England. The company name is derived from the Aston Clinton hill climb and one of the company's founders, Lionel Martin.  used by 007 in the film Quantum of Solace made a starring appearance at Coundon Court School Coundon Court School is a comprehensive school in Coundon, Coventry, England.   • Mo Mowlam (1949 – 2005), was a British politician
  • Jim Hamilton (born 1982), a Scottish rugby union footballer

 car to Coventry to show off the fabulous motor to Year 11 and sixthform students.

Pupils were asked to take part in a competition to design the Aston Martin of the future and the best three received prizes.

Representatives of the STEM (science, technology. engineering and maths) support centre offered support and advice about quality science technology engineering and mathematics. Its aim is to encourage pupils to learn more about engineering and to support the development of key skills for the students.

Debbie Ellis, of Warwickshire Education Business Partnership, said: "It's been a great afternoon, there has been a lot of interest shown by the children today and some seemed really keen to get into the engineering business.

"I think we have a lot of James Bond fans here who are excited to see the car."

 appears in Quantum of Solace in an opening 15-minute car-chase sequence driven by Bond actor Daniel Craig.

Teacher Peter Davis said: "It's been a very successful day for the children, they have learnt a lot and it has been an inspiration for them.

"Seeing the car in the flesh has got the children talking, and it is a good background into general design.

"We like to encourage the students to get into the right career; by having the Aston Martin at the school gives them an insight, and what better way than by having the senior engineer from Aston Martin, Bal Choda, here."
