Bonci hiring defended.

Byline: John Weeks

CLINTON - Board of Health Chairman Steve Lipka is defending his board's appointment of Thomas (language) Thomas - A language compatible with the language Dylan(TM). Thomas is NOT Dylan(TM).

The first public release of a translator to Scheme by Matt Birkholz, Jim Miller, and Ron Weiss, written at Digital Equipment Corporation's Cambridge Research Laboratory runs
 Bonci as part-time health agent.

Bonci was chosen by the board in December, but the appointment was questioned because Bonci apparently did not meet the requirements of the advertising. The position was readvertised and the Board of Health interviewed several candidates, but chose to hire Bonci again.

"The other candidates were good," Lipka said on Monday. "They were all very good in their area of expertise. Tom Bonci was far and away the best candidate based on his disaster management training. I think any one of them would have done a good job, but these days the position is focused so much on disaster planning disaster planning - disaster recovery ."

Lipka said the hiring process was straightforward until one misunderstanding and a rumor RUMOR. A general public report of certain things, without any certainty as to their truth.

"Some people like to complain," he said. "They just have nothing better to do, I guess."

Lipka said the initial advertisement for the position called for candidates who are already certified See certification.  in several areas, including septic tank septic tank, underground sedimentation tank in which sewage is retained for a short period while it is decomposed and purified by bacterial action. The organic matter in the sewage settles to the bottom of the tank, a film forms excluding atmospheric oxygen, and  inspections and pool inspections. No one came forward with all of these certifications. So, the Board of Health advertised a second time.

"You need all of these certifications but there are time frames," Lipka said. "The state gives you 18 months to get your sanitation sanitation: see plumbing; sanitary science.  certification once you start the job."

Lipka said Bonci had the necessary experience to be able to hit the ground running.

"He can do disaster planning and housing investigations," he said. The misunderstanding occurred when the health board asked the Personnel Board how much they should pay Bonci.

"We just wanted to know what step to start him at," Lipka said. "Some people thought we were trying to start him above where he should be. That's just not true." Lipka said Bonci was started at step 1, grade 16 and will make $420.04 per week.

Then the rumor mill kicked in, Lipka said.

"We've been accused of everything down here," he said. "People accuse ac·cuse

Lipka said he is not worried about online talk of attempting to recall the health board.

"They can go ahead if they want," he said. "It's an election year, so I'm not surprised."
