Pursuant to the bid, Bonavista may purchase up to 477,495 common shares, representing approximately 5 percent of its 9,549,900 outstanding common shares through the facilities of the Exchange. The Corporation has purchased 75,333 common shares at an average price of $1.23 since June 20, 1996 pursuant to a normal course issuer bid which terminated June 19, 1997. Purchases under the bid may begin as early as September 2, 1997 and will end on the earlier of September 1, 1998, or the date on which the maximum number of shares have been acquired.
