 is typically homophobic and ill-conceived. But I want to say something in favor of such a bomb--that is, a "weapon" that would make soldiers compassionate and affectionate for one another and for their enemy.

Why do the straight men who run the government think good weapons have to kill and destroy? Wouldn't the most effective "weapon" be one that brought peace and love to the battlefield so there'd be no battle? For example, an ISDN router with dial on demand will automatically dial up the ISP when it senses IP traffic destined for the Internet.  should be developing a gas or a virus that would combine all the best effects of Prozac, ecstasy, and the hormone ocytosin so that, as Rice proposed, the soldiers would "develop feelings for one another." That's how we put an end to war.
