Jack Roche Jack Roche or 'Jihad Jack' as he has been labeled is an Australian convicted on a charge of conspiring to commit an offence provided for by the Crimes (Internationally Protected Persons) Act 1976, namely intent to endanger the lives of Israeli diplomats in Canberra (Australia's , 50, now an Australian citizen, changed his plea to guilty in a court today.

He said the al Qaida-linked plot was to bomb the Israeli Embassy in Canberra, Australia.

His change of plea ended his trial on its 10th day and allowed him to avoid further cross- examination.

Roche had pleaded not guilty at the start of the trial in Perth.

He faces a maximum punishment of 25 years in prison for conspiring to damage the embassy with explosives and harm diplomatic staff.

The plot was never carried out.

After Roche changed his plea, Justice Paul James Healy asked jurors to give their verdict as well.

The foreman later said the jury found Roche guilty.

Roche will be sentenced on Tuesday.
