Deliveries are scheduled to take place between February 2004 and February 2006. The trains will be used for the cross-border service which CFL is developing between Gouvier (Belgium), Luxembourg-ville (Luxembourg), Thionville and Metz (France). The production will be undertaken at Bombardier's plant in Crespin, France. The TER2N NG is a bi-level electrical regional train which can run at a maximum speed of 160km/h. The characteristics of these new trains include a state-of-the-art design, an increase in passenger capacity of more than 10%, multi-use spaces for strollers, bicycles, and wheelchairs, toilets in all vehicles and toilets for handicapped passengers in each trainset. Jacques Lamotte, executive vice-president, Bombardier Transportation, Europe, stated: "this order allows Bombardier to develop the backlog of the TER2N NG opened in November 2000, and modified in July 2001, by the firm order of 61 trains from the SNCF which include an optional order for 424 additional vehicles."
